U3 announced new flash drives on Thursday that host a "personal workspace." The device saves not only data and files but also software programs, user preferences and the means for managing them. By turning a USB flash drive into a USB smart drive, U3 lets you carry programs and personal preferences, launch software, and access all of your own data on any Windows XP or Windows 2000 PC from a device the size of a pack of gum. Now you can move between multiple locations with ease.
U3's Launchpad interface allows you to store all of your favorite browsers and office software as well as downloaded versions of the Nullsoft Winamp player, uber IM client Trillian, and voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) software Skype.
